LOUISE ELLIOTT
Louise, a popular BBC television presenter, has a
huge interest in gardening and garden wildlife in
general. These interests are regularly reflected on
the
BBC Wales radio show Jamie & Louise that she
co-presents each weekday from 9.00am to Midday.
Another regular contributor to the show is Terry
Walton the well known allotment expert and celebrity
who also appears regularly on the Jeremy Vine show
on BBC Radio 2.
Louise has recently
registered as a member on the Aeron Vale Allotment
Society web-site, and we are delighted to
introduce her to you. She says:
"I've
had a look at the website and I think it's
fantastic. A really useful, practical resource for
people, who like me, are trying their best to make
the most of their gardens and allotments. It's easy
to navigate too, which is a bonus - well done! I
particularly like the To Do list, it's nice to check
that out and know that you're on the right track and
not missing anything vital!
Louise started
her broadcasting career as the North Wales reporter
on ‘Wales Today’. During this time she interviewed a
host of stars, including Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Louise also worked as a
network news correspondent in London where she
reported for the ‘ten o’clock News’; Radio 4’s
‘Today’ programme; ‘News 24” and Radio 5 Live.
During this time her reports included live coverage
of the devastating ‘foot and mouth crisis’ and the
celebration surrounding yachtswoman Ellen
McArthur’s homecoming. She also presented live
television coverage and reaction to the 2001 budget.
On her return to Wales,
Louise moved into investigative journalism and
joined the team at BBC Wales’ ‘Week In Week Out’
programme as presenter. It was during this time that
Louise became known for her ‘door stepping skills’ –
catching people off-guard and getting answers to
crucial questions that they had previously refused
to answer.
From ‘Week in Week Out’
Louise became presenter of the highly popular BBC
Wales’ television programme ‘X-Ray’. To the delight
of Louise, the programme won a prestigious BAFTA
Cymru Award for the ‘Magazine Programme of the Year,
2005’.
Louise was also awarded
the ‘Consumer Journalist of the Year (2006)’ for
Wales by the influential Trading Standards
Institute.
Prior to broadcasting
Louise was a highly regarded journalist, reporting covering
stories like the Hillsborough Disaster and the
‘Monster Massacre’ in Bosnia. Her writing during
this time twice won her the ‘Regional Young
Journalist of the Year’ title.
We are honoured to have
her as a member and supporter of our allotment
association web-site. |
